red eye day

I had a big meeting with people who travel all the world from Europe. and just how I ended up greeting them? Well I did so with a red eye.

Mind you its not like I have sore eyes or gotten infected thru contact lens (I have perfect eyesight btw) I merely have a swollen eye on my right.

It might have look better if both eyes are red I thought. Would definately turn up the scare factor as well while pushing for arguments.

Anyhow, what happen was that my long hair (the frinch) kinda tickle my eye alot today. Unknowingly I began scratching it. Before long the entire eye became red and it swell up a little. I can even see that it creates an effect like my pupil has a depression.

This is why I keep a bottle of eyedrop with me where ever I go.

Timebomb Casemod

I am amazed by the effort this guy took to build a casemod. For those who wonders what is a casemod, it is simply a DIY custom designed PC.

Check out his Part 1 and Part 2.

I am waiting for Part 3.

Given only a projector and a motion sensor, these creations are out of the world.

da vinci disappointment

Well the movie was quite close to the book.

The acting was surprisingly one dimensional to me. Kinda felt bad for Ian Mckellen. Who was wonderful at LOTR, X-Men and so on but somehow appears like a 2nd grade villian here. Not too mention Tom Hanks cant seem to pull off a leading man role. Audrey Tautou seem totally lost with her English. I guess she doesnt realise she is speaking it without any emotions. Such a lost, since I really like her in Amelie. Well the only good exception was perhaps Jean Reno

I got to agree with Inky, when he said that the editing was a little patchy. There was a lack of a build up of suspense in most parts.

Ahh well, I would have say to give this a miss. Go read the book instead.

East meets east

I tried a silly recipe today. And to make the matters more interesting, I cooked at a little campsite near changi with messtins and solid fuels. Move aside Jamie Oliver, for I can improvise.

NDR, Inky, Sherlyn, YL, Aung and Karen were having a camp by the wonderful beach of changi once more. Its a beautiful location which I camped at last June and the memories of the time spend there were still fresh in me.

I would have stayed overnight with them but the lure of Liverpool playing in the FA Cup final was too great. It was worth it for Liverpool WON. Anyway, back to the topic.

I spent like 20 mins browsing around NTUC prior to meet up. I have absolutely no idea what I want to cook. I am just keen to avoid the usual instant noodles, luncheon meat, sausages and corn which we all brings for every camp.

As I walked down the sections, the strawberries caught my eyes and I put those in the baskets. The girls would live it. Then I pass by the meat section and I was tempted by the minced meat and got them as well. Might try making beef patties or meat ball I tot. Then I went to the dried section and found the tasty instant marsh potatoes. Now this is something I can use. Finally I stopped by the Jap section and decided to buy the curry paste.

When I finally arrive at camp (amid all the delays) we spread our sheets, build the tent and light the fire. I placed the minced meat onto the messtin and fried it a little before I added water and placed all the Jap curry paste into it. NDR took the marsh potatoes and wipe them up nicely with luncheon meat in them. Apparently luncheon meat was the ingredient for almost every dish.....

anyway, I let the curry cooked for a while... till Karen came by and commented that it should taste interesting if there is noodles in it. Immediately I dumped 1 pack in and stir. Sure enough, the taste was amazing. The noodles are not too soft since most of the water is trapped by the curry. The curry was sweet and a little spicy. The meat within it makes the whole dish a little thick. I gave Inky a spoon and he kept spooning me I mean mine.

The cook out turns out great. I guess I will be bringing Jap curry for all camps now.

BTW, happy 6 years to yinglong and sherlyn

Revenge but no

I was attending the launch of the new ship today.... yes the very same one you saw in the papers and the news. It was my first experience and perhaps my last as well. But Nevertheless its always depressing to see a perfectly good bottle of champagin get smash on the side of the ship. (its tradition they say)

Anyway, I saw a familiar face among the crowd. Ermm not the Minister silly, I was referring to a clerk who handle my papers when I was back in NS a year back.

He was this arrogant guy who thinks no one can touch him. Just becos his boss was a Colonel he gave the Groundcrew and others a miserable time. Everyone was glad when he ORD, its only after that did the normal admin works were done.

Our path cross once. Just that very one moment which gotten me pissed off. Having just returned back to service, I asked him to check on my leave status. He said he was not free and disappeared entirely. I asked him nicely again and sure enough he gave me the same excuse. He was not busy if you must know, he was just due for a smoke break.

Anyway seeing him today as a waiter is pleasing to know there is retribution. He is now serving anyone regardless of ranks. I called my friend who happen to hate him as well, he told me to play with him. Well I knew I could, but choose not to.

After all, its just not me to do such a things. I guess I am older now.

Light and Hard

The following was overheard on the radio this morning

DJ: Whats the different between light and hard?
DJ: You can sleep with the lights on

swollen knee

I went out for a one day cruise to nowhere. Its one of those things I do on the job which I neither like nor hate. Its just something I have to do.

Anyhow this time is a little different. My good old buddie Junyao is one of the officers on board and its always great to hang out with him. Psss, he is getting married soon.

The morning didnt start off as well as we had hoped. It started pouring the second we stepped onto the deck and thus our adventure was delayed. 1.5 hours later, the conditions were assess once more by the dedicated crew before we made our departure.

There was not much for me to do in the morning, so we sat around talking about the upcoming elections and read the newspaper. Like I say, its part of the job and its something I have to do :p

When its finally time for us to work, I accidently ramp my knee into the metal door. By no means the contact was light, its was a mean forceful ramp. I ended up limping for the rest of the day. Come to think of it, I was still limping when I got home.

I told Junyao about it, wondering if I could get any compensation. He simply asked me to let it be otherwise he has to write an incident report. Such friend!!!!

Anyhow we returned to harbour rather late and I dread the thought of coming in to work tomorrow. Sighs.

Sighs, its a pity there is only awesome photos on his site

Guess what I bought

I was snooping around at China Square Central today. Its a place where I din see myself going, but I guess its time for a change.

I gotten the Jap version. Its name is Flame Convoy. The Hasbro version is known as Scourge. Apparently the Japs made some error in their Engrish. Well... to them Convoy means leader where Optimus Prime is known as Galaxy Convoy :)

Anyhow, check out U-toys. They have plenty of transformers
