Snacks locks

This might be the only way to stop your boyfriend from snacking ever... hint hint.

(yes its something like pot calling the kettle black.)

Renovation

My place is undergoing renovation. When I arrived back from sydney I found new windows. Today was the last day of 2 long days of drilling and hacking. The wirings were being replaced and so came new lightings and a water heater as well. You cant imagine the amount of dust this minor event cause... Anyhow, next week or so the aircondition units will be arriving. sighs more drilling.

Why did the chicken cross the road?

Well I dun know, just that this lucky one avoided a jaywalking fine.

Courtesy campaign needed

One of the biggest thing I observed during my trip to australia is that australian are really friendly. On top of that they are seldom rude and really courteous.

A simple example is something that happens to be on a daily basis. I am kind of a laid back person (otherwise known as lazy). I tend not to rush at all. When boarding the train I would wait till the people inside would leave first before I embark. And most of the time I would be the last to embark.

In sg, everyone seemed to be in a hurry. I can understand if its office hours and so on, but during the weekend I cant understand why would people be waiting in front of the door and cant wait to jump on before the train even stop. It blocks the people inside from leaving.

In aus, the ppl outside would patiently wait for the last person to step out before even moving forward. Its real soothing to see that. Especially on a some occasions when I was carrying my luggage ard. I simply cant imagine that happening in sg. I doubt I would be able to escape from the train at all.

I would like to see a change in the mindset of ppl here. It would be nice if we all could step aside a wait for a few minor seconds. Sadly I doubt so.

Till then, I will carry on as I were. If ever I disembark a train and a group of ppl decide to block my exit, I will just stand in front of them till they make way for me.

Starwars easter eggs

I am planning to see starwars ep3 again. I would like to relive the moments of anakin turning to the dark side, the scene where I almost cried with padme and cheer yoda when he battles the emperor.

But this time I have a list of the easter eggs. These are cool and fun stuffs which the director placed into the film just for the hardcore fans to notice.

Back for now

Goodbye australia. Its has been a great trip there. Besides the sight seeing, i treasure my chance to catch up with my old friends there and most of all spending valuable time with my dear of course.

I realised I spend the next 14 hrs travelling back to singapore. Wilson drove us to the airport for the same amount I would pay for the train and bus. I took virginblue back to sydney and hop onto a train (which cost $4) to the international airport a stop away. Had macs for lunch (I swear I wont step into fastfood for months now). And flew 7.5 hours back to singapore.

The flight back was rather interesting. As this flight is a stopover to Frankfurt, there were many German tourist on board too. When I arrived to find my seat, I found a lady already occupying it and decided to let her have it. The guy which sat on the aisle was a funny bald guy. SO i sat between them.

A short while later, a really old lady came whinning that we 3 have her seats. Her boarding pass was checked and found that she was to have sat elsewhere and demand that we gave it to her. Her son came along and was much nicer. He explained he needs to take care of her and both needs to sit near the aisle.

Sensing that the evil wicked old lady might end up near us, the funny bald guy willingly gave it up and found a much better seat elsewhere. Before he left, he tapped me and whispered "GOOD LUCK". (ok its not a whisper but rather loud). I was prepared to spend the next 7 hours in torture until the nice flight attendant (dun say air steward) came and gave 2 seats to the old lady, while her son sat next to me.
Phew!!!!

Anyhow, I spill orange juice onto myself and the nice lady who stole my seat. I swear its an accident. She came to realise an hour before touchdown that she was seated at the wrong seat number and suppose to be a whole row in front of me..... groan.

I came back rather stone but have to think how to sneak past custom without paying for duties. Its simpler than I could imagine... (I wont say how) My parents picked me up and my dad immediately insist we go for supper. When I heard that I knew I was home.

Day 8 in Brisbane

Its my last day here. Going to fly home tomorrow. I cant believe I lasted this long here. Then again, I would still like to stay long and take care of my sasa. sighs.

Today was spend lazing around the whole day. When it comes to lunch time, we din even know what to cook. Thankfully Mr kopiwriter came and save the day (intro to mighty mouse song). He suggested pasta and nicely asked me to eat on his behalf.... Well I cant wait to see him and his kanojyo this weekend. They promised me oily salty asian food.

I gave the girls a treat for dinner. Bought them 2 large pizza. The pizza here is damn cheap. Like half the price in singapore. Makes you wonder about the exchange rate doesnt it.... I ate the most of it, the slender girls cant eat much, we have a fair share of leftovers.

I am feeling sad now. Wheres the tissue box?

Day 7 in Brisbane

Its a lazy day for us today. We had initally plan to wake up early to make it to the city early and climb mount coot ta early. but after realising that we will only sleep for 4 hrs if we do so, we quickly abandon the plan. My missy aint feeling too well also.

So we sleep in and allow the hot sun to burn our butts as an indication that its time to get up. Its probably 12 noon before we decided what we had to do. She has to go down to the city to collect her book which is a 1 hr train ride. (I am beginning to appreciate singapore a whole lot more every single day) When we arrived, we collected her Lingo book, had lunch and decided to jump onto the citycab which is really a high speed boat. It brought us to her main campus at toowong (yes too wong).

UQ was really nice. I love the shades of the wall tiles and the color of the light which bounce of it. sigh, all my uni life I am stuck in my lab.... Anyhow, we realised how late we are and had sushi buffet nearby. I must say that is more fried stuffs on the moving train than I have seen in singapore.

We came back real late today and its rather chilly outside. I know I am going to miss this cool wonderful weather when I leave on wed. Of course I will miss her more ;P

Futurama back?

There is rumours once more that they might be bringing back the ultimate cartoon of all time. (ok besides transformers)

I do hope Futurama survive as long as the simpsons does.

Day 6 in Brisbane

The girls brought me out for shopping once more. Unable to satisfy their hunger for shopping yesterday due to the starwars movie, we returned to the same mall at a much earlier time to begin our hunt. Peijuan who came down from central arrived at 11am there. She waited for hours as my dear and I are still dead asleep. Really sorry.

Lunch was to be subway, until I gotten craving for KFC and nearly choked eating a 6inch sandwich and 4 pieces of hot and chrispy chickens. My dear stopped me from finishing my 4th as I am slowing morphing into jabba the hutt infront of everyone.

Its a wonder how girls seem to get more energetic as they shopped while us guys seem to be getting more and more tired. Seem to me like they are sucking our blood or something like that to maintain their strength.

We came back close to 5.30pm and I met Josh along with Michelle to go to church. It has been 2 weeks since I skipped mass and I felt a slight guilt about it. I know I have to go and actually would like to see how mass is conducted here. The chuch we went to is St Mary's and it has been standing for 150 years. really really old. What I did notice is that churches here have tombs of their founders within the church halls. This is something strange to me since back home they are all buried at lim chu kang.

Anyhow, I am glad I went to mass. I prayed for everyone and wish you all health and joy. Smile all, I will be back to hunt you soon.

Day 6 in Brisbane

I saw starwars today. It brings to an end a 9 years of hope, anger, fear, hunger and long wait. Boy have I aged. What hits me is that the theatre I go to looks alot like Golden village back home. Strikingly similar. I cant helped but wonder why they have a similar Gold class too. Anyway it cost $14 aus to watch and though it cost a bomb here it worth every cent.

This is my movie of the year. The acting improved a hell lot. Surprisingly I nearly felt like crying when Padme said "you changed....". Her eyes, her expression, her voice, they are all so sad. I wished to say out loud, "forget about him, take me instead" but I realised I was holding my kanojyo's hand then.

I will watch again when I get back of course.

Lunch was Hungry Jacks which look like Burgerking. And yes there is no BK here. I asked Martin why once, but he just said, "you dun know??". For a moment there I thought I was the one asking the question.

Anyhow I cant wait to get back. Yo Kopiwriter! I need some salty asian food.

Storewars

For those who saw ep3 and cant waited to see ep4, oh wait ep4 was out long long time ago. Anyway, check out this funny link. To see what happen to Luke and gang

Day 5 in Brisbane

Yum. Had some dim sum for lunch. My kanojyo's nice friends drove out to buy dim sum for a group of 7. Once again the guys were outnumbered by the girls here. Everything was perfect except for the lack of chilli sause which I am beginning to miss.

I stayed in mostly doing my lazy reading of the Harry potter 4th book. Occassionally turning over to help my kanojyo with her director lingo programming. Its amusing to learn another new language and yet I cant quite understand the style of the programming.

Anyway, catching starwars tml. May the force be with you

anyone got a job for darth?

Now that EP3 is out and done with. And we all once more seen what happen to cute little ani.... well not that cute.

Anyone out there could offer good old Darthy a job?

The powerful R2D2

Do I need to explain more?

Starwars ep3 is out

Whoo hoo I have been waiting 9 years for this. Well not quite 9 years since the movie only took 3 years to complete, but in fact I waited 9 years to see all 3 movies and finally it has been done.

I will be watching it in Brisbane and without a doubt once more in Sg when I get back. My dear friend, kopiwriter, smiled at me on wed when he said he is going to catch the premiere. I wonder to myself, thats a startrek fan (yes ppl go and abuse his blog) but yet he happily went to catch the greatest movie of all time.

I wonder would I see jar jar bink when I catch the movie tomorrow? shhhh no one tell me what happened, ok. I think anakin will save the day, he will kill the senator for sure... i hope.

Day 4 in Brisbane

My dear skipped school and we ended up taking an hour train ride to the city to do some shopping. My sis sponsered partially for my trip here and I thought it would be nice to buy her some stuffs. The problem is that they have to be cheap, cause I am running broke.

The comp was left to defrag after all the anime my missy has been downloading. It took longer than expected and we ended up not using the computer for 1 day. Well it gives us time to sit down and play some dia-ti (big two).

We also had a major cooking in yesterday. It has been a party here every thursday whereby 18 people would gather at 1 of the 4 houses to have a major potluck event. I absolutely love the thought. In this group majority are singaporean, like 90% with only 1 hongkonger, 1 australian and 1 malaysian in our midst. Lots of food followed by piano session and of course mahjong session.

May 18, 2005

Day 3 in Brisbane

Its was to be a cold morning for me. I was left without any blanket for the whole night and woke up freezing. ack.

Anyway, as Kopiwriter has pointed out, I did absolutely nothing today. I din go out of my kanojyo house, I din even have a reason to bath. Anyhow, the sky here is still blue and nice. The air is wonderful and hopefully I will come back to sg with better health and skin.

The food I eat I can never complaint. Especially when almost everyday I have 2-3 lovely cooks making meals for me. I took control of the washing of the dishes of course. Life could not be more slack. Ahh peace is what I have here.

Its time to retire my trusty Handspring Visor edge, in favour of this new cool toy. I cant wait to get my hands on it.

They have finally created a self heating hot latte. Now I cant wait to see how they used this technology on other food items. I do hope they implement this into the army rations. Well then again, I just hope they improved the meals first.

Day 1-3 in Gold Coast

It has been a long holiday for me and I am halfway thru it. Due to my ever lazy nature, I have decided to compress my short gold coast trip into just this entry. As you can see, I dun have internet access there and felt cripple for 3 days. Not to mention, I din bring my charger and have to off my phone for the longest time ever. (crazy as it seems, some friend of mine send me 54 blanks sms when I was there. Its due to the sad fact that my name starts with A but most of all becos its a nokia phone)

Gold coast is a wonderful place to be at if you are a surfer. Otherwise the waves there are too rough for swimming. Bondi beach would be a better choice. Its real sunny the day we arrived. Apparently it has been raining for days there but as it turns out I brought the Sunlight back to the beach.

We ate there but on the 2nd day when we visited movieworld, we had nothing but tea. The lethal weapon ride looks scary on the phamlets and we din there to risk it. Unfortunately, as it turns out we got a bigger scare on the scooby-do ride, the lethal weapon is more painful than scary.

There is one thing I learned in aus, travelling is time consuming and costly at the same time. I taken for granted back home when I could get to anywhere I want in 45 mins and only pay $1.60 tops. Here $2 barely gets you on the transports.

Ok need to rest now. Been a long and tiring joruney. The next few days I will be forced to eat homecook food in order to slim down.

The ads are quite well done, for a simple budget (wink to kopiwriter).

Day 1 in Brisbane

Goodbye sydney. I have a wonderful time there. I will miss you no doubt. Thanks Martin, for the lodging and putting up with my endless snoring. Thanks Morgan for bringing me out for a fabulous dinner the night before. Thanks Evan for meeting me up although you are super rushed for time. Thanks all.

Not to forget, take care Edwina. Have fun on your 21st birthday there. Yes I know its going be sometime soon. I will catch up with you when you return.

Anyway, Martin sent me to the airport bright and early. We said our goodbyes before he promptly drove off. I told virginblue to brissy and was glad that they are fairly on the dot with their scheduling. I need them to be efficient for I am returning on 25th.

I took the train alone (cue in Mr lonely-Akon) and arrived at Ipswich waiting for my dearest. She was late... but when she arrived I cant explain the feelings deep inside of me. I am so glad to see her and hold her once more.

We soon went back to her place to dump my stuffs before heading out again. The weather in Brisbane is not as cold as Sydney and I actually sweat for the first time in a week. We toured around the city which was nice and went back taking the last bus and train. Oh well, the late timing here is not as late as in Singapore but I guess I can use a change for a while.

I hope to upload some photos soon.

Take care NDR, sleep well over the weekend.

May 12, 2005

Day 5 in Sydney

I woke up late. Real late. Something like 12pm. Well actually I woke up at 8am, but I went back to sleep. Martin did the same as well. Its a lazy day for both of us. After we were wide awake and bathe, we left to UNSW. He had to go down to measure his complex supercharger motor. (i have no idea what its about)

We had lunch there which was pretty nice and arrived back at our car which we parked hiddened at some residental area. We came to the car to find that we have been fined $70. Apparently we parked too close to the junction and were at fault some how. We cant argue with that and thus proceed to pay a couple of hours later.

We left to a little fortification near the National Park. Its a nice fort which they filmed the explosive movie MI1 (Mission Impossible 2). I liked it alot. Its structure is fabulous along with the nice coastline.

We came back soon after to take a break from all that walking. Well its not much walking, but we are just being lazy cos its my last day here. We left martin place at 6 and drove to morgan place by 6.30pm with him welcoming us to his carpark lot. His wonderful girlfriend was there to meet us but we cant recalled her name. I blame martin for this, cos I was drinking and I have the excuse for forgetting.

After leaving our car behind, we went to a nice place by the rocks for dinner. Its serve wonderful mussels and beer which Morgan and I helped ourselves too. Both of us ordered a pot of it with blue cheese. The mussles were oishi. Morgan being such a good friend, made me drank 3 tasty unique Begium beers.

After we were fed and well oiled, we took a short walk back to his messy place. He got Martin (my driver) a glass of orange juice, while I got a choice of whiskey or rum. I choose whiskey of course, a nice glass of Chivas regal 21 years old. He passed me 4 bottles of the Tempus 2 carbanet. Real good wine, go get some too.

We said our goodbyes soon after. I am grateful to make this trip to sydney to meet up my best friend. Its a trip well spent. He let me know that he will be visiting Singapore from June 19th for about 4 weeks. Its about the same day as my kanojyo arrival. So I guess I will be seeing him soon.

I need to pack now and get ready for my flight to Brisbane.

May 11, 2005

Day 4 in Sydney

Just before we slept last night, I decided to call off the visit to hunter valley. I realised that after yesterday long trip to Blue mountains, I aint up for another long drive. As it turns out, I woke up feeling a little warm and the headache slowly came. In the end Martin provide me with some vitamin C and panadols which helps alot.

We drove to Bondi beach for lunch. Its nice to buy our lunch and sat on the steps facing the beach. Wonderful day, wonderful sky, wonderful view. If only there were more topless girls around...

Anyway, Martin went to bondi mall to cut his hair, while I roamed around. His stylists are kinda gay and we tot its a little funny. We cam back soon after to do our laundry while I lied down to relax a little. Before long we ended up at The Rocks once more for dinner. I love going there as it has the best sights of Sydney.

Dinner was pork ribs and pancakes. I think I need to go on a diet the minute I return to singapore. Anyway, we found a nice spot by the sea and sat down to light our cigars. The last time we did so, it was 1.5 years ago and we were sitting facing the eplanade. 6000 miles away Today, we faced the opera house. Just a great way to end my sydney trip.

Day 3 in Sydney

What a tiring day this has been. We woke up early to travel to Blue mountains. Edwina came along for it. She ended up feeling sick over the long car ride.

Anyway, Blue mountains was a fabulous place. It looks real blue due to the blue shades from my sunglasses. heh. We took the steepest railway ride down the cliff. Its breathtaking.

The ride back drain most of our energy. After dropping off my fren, who pretty much felt like puking, we head home for a rest. Later at dinner time, I managed to catch up with a really old friend of mine. (wave to evan).

We are wondering if we are up to it to make a trip to hunter valley tomrrow. I am feeling a little warm and worry if I should go.

Day 2 in Sydney

Its always hard to sleep in the new environment. But you always do so eventually. Its not as cold as I expect, rather tolerable. You always know you will survive.

I met up with my great best friend whom I have not seen for 2 years or more now. His name is Morgan and has been here studying hotel management for the longest time ever. He is doing fine and would be graduating year end. I am glad he is doing this well and would be expecting him in Singapore in July when he comes over for a week or so.

Anyway, he bought me nice Italian lunch and brought me around the city for the whole afternoon. Its nice to have a guide who knows when is the best time to go to the best place and so on. I am grateful for that.

To make it better, he knows where to get me the fabulous wine I have been craving about. yum.

Day 1 in sydney

Hi all, day 1 turns out to be a tiring journey. I arrived here at 5am aus time and was amazed how cold it was. For the longest period of time before my trip, I kept insisting that the weather is fine, I will survive. yadda yadda. I nearly eat my words when I first walk out of the airport without and jacket on.

But as the sun rise, everything felt much better. I came from sunny and humid Singapore and to experience cold weather for an entire day once more was a blessing. However it amazes me to see ang-mo wearing shorts and t-shirt at night here.

I din had any sleep on the flight. It was only 10am before I lay my head down to rest. Yes, I am still sleep deprive but I am loving it every moment. Kudos to my friend Martin for picking me up and showing me ard.

Since I dun really have much time on the comp. There are only 2 interesting links to check out.

ding dong

Upon hearing that her elderly grandfather had just passed away, Katie went straight to her grandparent’s house to visit her 95-year-old grandmother and comfort her.

When she asked how her grandfather had died, her grandmother replied “He had a heart attack while we were making love on Sunday morning.” Horrified, Katie told her grandmother that two people nearly 100 years old having sex would surely be asking for trouble.

“Oh, no, my dear,” replied granny. “Many years ago, realizing our advanced age, we figured out the best time to do it was when the church bells would start to ring. It was just the right rhythm. Nice and slow and even. Nothing too strenuous, simply in on the Ding and out on the Dong.”

She paused to wipe away a tear, and continued, “and if the damned ice cream truck hadn’t come along, he’d still be alive today.”

2 of these are better than 1

I am sure my friend, mr kopiwriter, will smile when he see this.

1st editing done

My bro and I spent the whole afternoon editing the video clips. Well its more like I am doing the editing while he snores away. Anyhow, the 1st compiled video clip is 3 mins long and weights like 330mb. Ouch.

Well I leave him to do the final editing by himself. Its not much left to do. Just have to compile it once more, but this time in Dixv format. Should save about 300mb or so.

You deserve better Shane

As some would probably know, one of the contestant from Eye for a Guy is actually a really old friend of mine. So old, that I cant remember when was the last time I actually spoken to him.

Anyway, he left an impression on the last episode only to be booted out today. Well, I didnt really like Denise anyway. You deserve better dude! You just went along for this game show for the price to Europe right? Right? Please said so. (teary eyes)

1 hour of sleep

I was expecting to be super tired today. I was expecting to fall asleep in my friend's car as he drove us around. I was even expecting to doze off while eating. And yet as the time goes by, I became more alert, I became more excited, the crazines is overwhelming. Yup, by now I am feeling warmer than normal and running on aderaline.

I stayed up till 2.30am this morning to catch Liverpool play against Chelsea. It was definately worth it, for the Reds won and booked a place in the europe final. It was about 5am before I was knocked out. My alarm rang at 6am. It is set for a special purpose. I wanted to surprise a special someone and I am glad she likes it.

Soon after I had to meet my bro below my place. He loaned the car from his gf's dad and we went around Singapore capturing clips after clips to create a video presentation for his project. I might say the trip was fruitful as we gotten everything we wanted in a limited time frame.

The 2 ladies who are our actresses for the parents scene was particularly interesting. I wont say more here and would only tell why in person. Anyway, I came back home to rest and before long, my family zoom me off to Rice Table for early Mother's day dinner. (Oh my mom just commented I looked skinner after all that running around)

I came back rather late and still wondering why am I writing this darn thing now when I could have sleep!!!! Please shoot me.

The passing of Mr Wee

Well I should have written this alot sooner. I just didnt understand how it can slip my mind. Our dear former president, Mr Wee Kim Wee had left us on monday. I personally do not know him, nor have come into any form of contact with him. But he remains in my heart as one of my favourite presidents. As some would have said, he is the people president. (this almost sounds like The Rock, the People Champ)

I always thought the last president Mr Ong Teck Cheong to be the most tragic president. And was sadden when he passed away as well. But I am thankful to know that both these great men have led great lifes when they are around. People will remember them always.

Disappointing SRG

The SRG held this year was rather disappointing. Its probably the smallest event I have ever seen in this last 6 years. NUS only has 1 team participating in the Galdiator competition. And guess what they lost in the first round. NTU didnt bother to come this year.

The withdrawal of the 2 university is not a surprise. Funding has been tight on hardware projects for the past few years. In fact the last 2 years, the robots which were used are the old prototype left behind by past winners. There has been a shift of mindset on the final year project with them focusing more research and programming. Hardware knowledge has been suffering a slow decline. Just ask a grad from electrical engineering if he knows how to read a resistor value and I dare said he wont be able to answer you.

Sadly, this year competition was between the 5 polys (yes republic poly included) and ITE. The challenge is less great although no doubt that poly students normally win in most category. However, poly projects are still very structure by their lecturers. They came about to win only and that means using tried and tested formulas. What you have is a lack of creativity.

Take for example the gladiator competition where the objective is to push the opponent off the board. The tried and tested formula is to build big, heavy robots which uses caterpillar tracks and has a front ramp. Sure enough if you look around, 80% of the robots looks like so. Do they need intelligent? Nay, just a strong motor would do.

I am now afraid to go down next year. There is a need to change the rules and introduce more excitment. Otherwise, they might as well bring back past year project to compete once more.

Junkyard bots

I love the junyard bots in the Transformer movie. Always a blast to see them fight and when their arms drop off, they can just join them back.

Well this site is far more interesting then that. I wonder if I can buy one.

Try not to bite your wound

Its a bandage that looks like bacon. Get it? well I dont either. In any case if I am to use this I will be tempted to bite my wounds.

Happy Labour Day

Happy labour day.

Its another day for me of course since holidays and sundays make no sense to me no more. Anyhow I spend most of the conceptualising the script for my 3rd director outing. I did 2 earlier movies before.

The first was a series of short films based on my walkers. The editing was simple but it gave me alot of chance to experiments on angles and effects. The second was meant for HR project. It involves a boring conversation scene between 3 person. I turned it into a black and white motion picture with all clips speed up 3 times with charlie chaplin song in the background. There was a hell lot of fun but the compiling took 4 hours to complete.

I have no idea how long this new videos will take. The final editing will be done by my bro. I will be doing the initial works mainly. Oh what fun this would be.
