Intelligent design

Day No. 1:

And the Lord God said, “Let there be light,” and lo, there was light. But then the Lord God said, “Wait, what if I make it a sort of rosy, sunset-at-the-beach, filtered half-light, so that everything else I design will look younger?”

“I’m loving that,” said Buddha. “It’s new.”

“You should design a restaurant,” added Allah.

Day No. 2:

“Today,” the Lord God said, “let’s do land.” And lo, there was land.

“Well, it’s really not just land,” noted Vishnu.....

Curry tonite

Its been a while since I last cooked. And when I mean cooked, I mean cooking for the family or friends or a bunch of people. Not that silly package of instant noodles or the occassional omelette.

I bought a pack of jap curry for almost a month now. Been waiting for a good opportunity to use it. Now that my sis had returned from overseas, I guess the time is right.

For the last few days, I gotten myself mentally prepared for this. I kept asking my kanojyo on the do and do not. After all, I have not done this before but I am keen to let my family tried the unique flavor of jap curry. To my indian frens out there, for the last time, jap curry aint suppose to be spicy. I know there is the word curry in there but lets just said that its more like a different style altogether.

Anyhow, I wanted to do the whole dish on my own, including the preparation work. But my mom sorta din trust me and ended up with everything slice nicely. All I had to do is to pour and stir. Kinda defeat the purpose. Sensing its an unfamilar dish to her, she proceed to wipe up a few more dishes to safeguard our dinner. I guess I should have told her that the curry itself is the dinner. sighs.

In the end, the curry didnt turn out as I expected. My mom used chicken parts with bones instead of just boneless meat and also wanted me to add potatoes cubes which are too large. I nearly argue with her but tot better against it. after all she rules in the kitchen.

Dinner will proceed in a manner of minutes. I wonder what the verdict would be like. All I know is that I will definately recooked this again soon. It turned out different from what I envisioned. Sighs.

Sun down Billboard

The billboard is made of 12,148 aluminium pegs, varying in length from 1mm to 27mm. Each different length peg creates a different sized shadow. The different sized shadows create a greyscale image of a woman sunbathing, when the sun comes out.

Interesting signs

What would you do to impress on your first date?

I had this conversation with watashi no kanojyo.
And she wonders what would I do to impress during my first date.

I simply said that I would bring her to a special restaurant.
This restaurant would be located at a wonderful location,
hidden from many but known to only a few.

My form of impressing a girl is rather straight forward,
yet might sound complex to many.
I would rather impress her by bringing her to places I like,
than to bring her to places she likes.

Why so?

The simple reason is because you want to impress her
you can only do so if its in your turf and not hers.
Imagine bringing her to do something she likes,
and you realised you know nuts about that places
or what to do there.

What an idiot you might be seen.
However, if you bring her to a place
where is something you are good at (your turf)
hopefully its something she aint familiar with
so it will be "cool" to help her adapt to her new environment.

For those wondering why I said restaurant....
well its becos I am a foodie.
I live to eat, eat to live.

Oh and I would choose Little India of course

all that walking

I met kopiwriter today. He was late as usual.

As he arrived, I decided to have some fun.
I sat there while he went left to right, up and down, trying to find me.
Rather surprise that he pass by 3 times and not notice me there.
I soon gave in and when he called, directed him to me.

Since its just the 2 of us today (insert will smith song),
we stopped by TCC for some coffee and cheese cake.
Sensing we have couple of hours till dinner,
I decided we should walked to suntec from orchard.
(Well he was game for anything)

It was a long walk on a hot day.
We were glad to reach the cold aircon of raffles city after 45mins.
We were still bored from the lack of event and ended up
walking around toy'r'us at the top level.
Quite crazy for 2 guys to stand in the store
and trying to sing their theme song.

Anyhow, its dinner time at we hopped over to marina sq.
Carl's Jr giant burgers were what we craved for.
We tot we could easily go thru 2 or more burgers
but after barely able to finish 1, we quickly learned our lesson.
The burgers were really big.

Somehow something din agree with my stomach acid
and off i rush to the nearest toilet somwhere.
I was done in like 15 mins and after some resting we proceed on.
Minutes into walking away, my stomach send warning signals.
Off I flew to the nearest toilet and it erupted.

No more cheese cake for me

For the love of sport

Sydney - An Australian rugby player Tuesday had his ring finger amputated in order to prolong his professional playing career.

Brett Blackwell, who plays for Glenelg in South Australia, had been in pain since breaking the finger three years ago. The 24-year-old was told that fusing the bones would ease the pain but end his playing days.

"It's not something that's been done lightly and to chop a finger off, it's a bit drastic," Blackwell conceded to national broadcaster ABC.

"But I love my footy and love playing sport and if that's going to help me to succeed at this level then it's something you've just got to do," he added.

Glenelg club manager Ken Applegarth said the decision was an emotional one that confirmed Blackwell's commitment to his sport.

"He just really wants to continue to play at the highest level," he said.

"He's been catching the ball on his wrist and bruising that all the time, so it's affected him, and he's made a pretty emotional decision." - Sapa-dpa

The power of milking cows

A battling 93-year-old Lithuanian woman has thwarted an attempted burglary by grasping one of the miscreants by the testicles so hard that the sobbing blagger required hospital treatment, Ananova reports.

Soja Popova, from Klaipeda, answered the door to two young men who promptly knocked her to the ground. The fighting granny quickly grabbed one of them by the nuts and squeezed "with all my force as hard as I could", as she later told the cops.

Popova continued: "He started screaming like an animal and his friend was trying to pull him free, but I have a grip like iron." The man's howling and his mate's protestations that the old girl should lay off alerted neighbours who called in law enforcement. The two broke free but were cuffed by police after escaping the attacking nonagenarian through a bedroom window. One was taken to hospital, the other to the lock-up.

A police officer noted: "They would not have got far, one of them could hardly walk and seemed pleased when he saw the police car. He demanded that he be taken to hospital because he was in so much pain."

Popova attributes her grip of steel to years of milking goats. They breed their grannies tough out there in Lithuania, make no mistake. ®

Ebay bought Skype

I am a big fan of Skype. A proud user for almost 1.5 years now. It use to be problematic but that was ironed out rather soon.

Anyhow, my Life depends on it now. Without it, I wont know what to do. With my kanojyo so far away, I wondered how each day would be like without it.

Oh and Ebay has bought Skype. I must said that the founders are one hell of a trend spotter. They had created and own Kazaa, the popular p2p software. And they sold it at its peak. With that amount of fortune, they used it to create Skype.

Now that Skype is sold, I wonder what they will be up to next.

Disappointed by F15

For the longest time we have know, Singapore spent many years fussing over a new aircraft to replace the A4 Skyhawks. In that period of time, the A4 went through several more mods, many change-of-commands parade pass and more technology grew out of date.

2 years back, my close fren and I sneaked into the asian aerospace show. Sitting there were 3 finalists. The Rafale came in all its glory and perform some great aerobatics display. They even put a working model for us to photograph with. The F15s were just parked next to it. It has a towering size which makes the agile rafale looks small. However, there wont any aero display of its capability. Eurofighter tycoon was the only aircraft that was not around. Apparently it never flew out of Europe before and wont be making an exception. It has the best features of all 3 and naturally was the more promising choice. They did put up a booth with giant screens showcasing its flying abilities.

Perhaps presentation meant alot that day. I vaguely even remember the F15s werent in the original selection but have been slotted into replaced the sales of the F18s. Looking back, I told my friend that it makes little sense to buy an older model having already gotten the F16 for ages, though both aircrafts are meant for different roles.

Analysing, the plus points of getting from Boeing another make of its fighter would be the ability to share tools and fittings, the reduction of time in training program conversion, the familiarity of its handling and so on.

However, the major bad point would be trusting a single american company with all our fighters. There would be lack of control over weapons, system upgrades and so on since Boeing wont be treatened by the rest.

Sighs, I guess I wont be winding so much if we have bought the good old F14 tomcat. That bird is an icon! A Topgun Icon that is.

PS. The rafale reminds me of Macross

Ants hitch a ride on Fiji iPod

A returned traveller got more than he bargained for when he found a colony of Singapore ants had followed him home from Fiji.

The Auckland man discovered the infestation in the packaging of an iPod he had bought at Nadi Airport.

About 50 live Singapore ants – highly destructive ants that can eat through plastic and wiring – were crawling around the iPod.

He immediately phoned the Agriculture and Forestry Ministry, which advised him to put the iPod with its ants, not seen in New Zealand, into the freezer.

MAF spokesman Phil Barclay said the ants were aggressive pests that built big colonies in homes and buildings. They preyed on other insects and chewed holes in fabric and electrical wiring.

"They're not a human health risk. They do sting, but they are more of a residential pest."

Mr Barclay said he had no idea how the ants came to be in the iPod packaging but the man's house had been ant-baited and given the all-clear.

Democracy?

I got a couple of friends who have somehow been involved in anti-PAP activities. Come to think of it, we all have friends who does not like the govt in some ways of the other.

however, i am rather uncomfortable by the speech given. We are not restrain by the lack of democracy. Are we going to compare ourselves with countries who locked up their oppositions and used military might against their will.

tsk tsk. I dun think of should go on.

I will like to end it by saying, that most people disagree with the lack of freedom. Thats why the opposition seldom get support at all.

Hot Korean Babe

A friend of mine, lets called him Jack*, point me to a hot looking Korean celebrity. Her name is Hyori Lee.

Prior to this, I have absolutely no idea who she is at all. I never watched any Korean shows and personally thought that their drama series are way too draggy. I never thought much of their celebrities as well. Got this impression that they all have long rebonded hair and a common sweet look. Pretty boring to me.

Well not any more.

He Held Their Lives in His Tiny Hands

BATON ROUGE, La. — In the chaos that was Causeway Boulevard, this group of refugees stood out: a 6-year-old boy walking down the road, holding a 5-month-old, surrounded by five toddlers who followed him around as if he were their leader.

They were holding hands. Three of the children were about 2 years old, and one was wearing only diapers. A 3-year-old girl, who wore colorful barrettes on the ends of her braids, had her 14-month-old brother in tow. The 6-year-old spoke for all of them, and he told rescuers his name was Deamonte Love.

Comics once more

(you might have to click on it to see the wordings)

This is what every guy on the planet believes

why Liverpool?

Could it be that there are too many Man U fans out there, thats why I suppose LFC?

Could it be that they are the recent Champions of Europe?

Could it be due to their rich history?

Well the answer is a sad No.

Yes, I dislike Man U for their arrogants but that din make me support them, neither has it got to be the prospect of winning trophies after trophies like Chelsea.

Instead the simple reason happened 5-6 years ago. There was this striker whose killer instinct for scoring captivates me. You must be thinking now that that person is Michael Owen. Well no.... when he was sold, I'd thought the money was good.

The person I had been admiring all this while was Robbie Fowler. He was a talent, a man who can produce goals when needed. His scoring broke many Liverpool records and many remain currently unbroken still. Not to forget, Fowler scored the Premier League's fastest-ever Premier League hat-trick in 4 minutes 32 seconds against Arsenal during the 1994/95 season. How many could match that?

Unfortunately, injuries and lack of confidents in his latter years kept him from reaching his best form. He was sold to Leeds followed by Man city. I do hope he recapture a bit of spark and become a Anfield Legend.
