lunch with eejean

The truth is that I had attempted to organise a surprise lunch for my long time old shopping buddy. The problem is getting there in one piece.

I went down her place in the late part of the morning to meet Jean. Was real happy to see Tessi (her dog). Strangely Tessi doesnt remember me and went barking away. Well its been 1 year since I last saw her and to her thats probably 7 years...

Moving along, we left soon after to pick up Inky who stayed nearby. He who stay almost next door is also the one who is always late. And silly me for realising that after Inky got in, I left my sunny at Jean place. So back we went.

Anyhow, we soon took the straight road to Waraku. It was quite a simple road there, except that we had 2 near misses.

The first when I turned back to chat to Inky, cause Eejean to turn back too and we nearly hit a stationary car. It was quite frightening, but we conveniently forgotten it.

Then when we found ourselves on the right side of the 2 lane road and wondering if its the green light, Jean asked if its green which Inky relied Yes (thinking she meant green arrow). We edge forward to numerous horning from 3 cars. Normally I would have stopped in that situation. Not the same for a pregnant lady. She simply drove pass nonchalantly.

I was so glad to see Waraku soon after. The ride to me was neverending. Shups! who booked the place was our mysterious guest and Jean was pleasantly surprise. We were concern about not overdoing the surprise in case Jean Pop on the spot.

Lunch was filled with laughter and old war stories. Battle scars were in so many of the topics....And then Vernon arrive late but smiling. The VerJeans were completed once more.

Now we have to patiently wait a month more. Jean declared she intend to work till her water bag burst.

Anyhow, lets do a gathering soon. We all owned Inky some big treat.

Futurama backs

Ok its the first of 4 mini movies.

Fans rejoices!

good old crayfish

I promise a old bud of my to take a pic of his former tank..... and in the process I kept forgetting and procrastinating. Well 1 mth aint that long right... And I would have commented on his blog, had it not been just a photoblog

Anyhow its been about a year since he left (I think). Its amazing his much abuse crayfish is still alive.

As you probably wont know, its been clean recently. Much of the dirt has been remove and dump away.

Hopefully it would stay clean for a long while

Dismay over traffic

I been zipping around the last couple of days. Heading southwards from home to drop off my dad before heading to the East most to where I been working.

As I could never seem to leave my place as early as I would like, I ended up heavy foot my peddles as soon as the official owner got off. Its not a nice feeling, I might added. The rev at 2500 rpm is noisy and I had to turn up C95 to compensate.

On top of that, the fuel consumption is hefty. Its almost like I inserted a yakult straw to the fuel tank to allow it to drip all the way.

But what can I do, its a Sunny. A horrible car to zip around.

On top of that the traffic is crazy. Ok lets not get me started on that yet. I would definitely pop my blood vessels.

Grumbles.

Out at base

I have been staying in the office for the last 2 weeks now. And today I spend the whole day at the base. Now thats exciting to me.

I am never the desk bound sort. Wearing a smart shirt and pants is like attending a wedding to me. And yes, a daily wedding affair for too long makes me go bonkers. I do hope that I might be able to come to work one day in my berms and tees. It would be a dream for me.

Well till that day come, I am grateful to be away while I can.

French people

I simply love the French, much more than the English (aside from Top Gear presenters) and way more than American.

Enough said, I think they are the nicest bunch and I would be off to France to study them pretty soon.

Oh and how can you not like the French, after all they all speak English

Need to sleep more

Its a vicious cycle.

I get home tired, contemplating that I should sleep early, had dinner, surf the web, chat a little, watch Top Gear and then realised its past 1am.

Off to bed, read the soccer news on pda then roll over (x3) to sleep.

Woke up, grumpy, ate breakie, stone, arrive at work and struggle for time to pass so that I might go home to sleep earlier.

And yet I dont.

I am blaming Top Gear for this.

(For those who aint sure what is Top Gear is, you are missing the fun. Its not just an automotive show, its a comedy as well.)

reunited after 60 years

Now this is a real love story that beats all those wimpy korean dramas out there

DIY CO2 diffuser

My current tank is heavily planted. So much so that I am beginning to ponder if I should invest in a CO2 injection system. Bascially my plants provides oxygen for my fishies, however I only have a small handful of them as compare to the numerous plants. It makes me wonder if there is enough CO2 (carbon dioxide) in the water to provide for their growth.

As such, I could invest in a proper pump set up that injects air (air has enough CO2 by itself) into the water to assist their growth. Or I could build one by myself. After all I love to DIY.

This is the set up I am currently looking at and would probably think about it over the weekend.

On top of this, I found this attractive diffuser which I am tempted to purchase. It cost quite cheap but the shipment would come up to 6 times its cost.... I hope to find it in some fish shop now.

Love-ly flower

A colleague of mine pointed me to this flower. He later asked me to enlarge it and I found a pleasant surprise.

Hope this makes your morning a brighter day.

Oh and check out his flickr to boost his photographer morale.

Russell peters, blading and 1 big crab

This is one interesting sunday. I started with a dim sum lunch and turf city. Been awhile since I been there and the first thing that greeted me was this. The giant Alaska King Crab. The moment I saw this, I was wondering if it would fit in my desk size tank. hmmm.....

Moving along, I had a tough time blading today. Been almost 2 months since I last put on my blade and my memory of gliding sideway is sketchy. As such, I fell 3 times. Once while I was attempting to brake on a steep slope. (Bad Idea) Another while I was attempting not to run over a white man with a luggage. (Long Story) And the last I did a belly landing on the tarmac. It was really funny that I din hurt my belly while I attempted that.

Anyway I shall leave you with this clip of Russell Peter to help chase away your Monday Blues..

He has a new dvd "Outsourced" and this is hillarious.

clear waters

ok this is a little delay. well i do work at times and thus you cant expect me to do my tank all day. Anyway here the water is still a little yellowish due to the weeks of neglect.

It would take a few more water change to get it back to crystal clear and I am in no hurry. After all, I should change it to drastically as it might stress the wild life....

Here is a close up of the tank. I added some red tall plants in the background. Sadly no pic for them as I have yet to determine what species they are.

Also I dump 40cents load of worms into my tank. Its a hell lot of worms and its so much that my fishes actually stop eating them... can you believe that.

Not to forget, I am bought a new corydoras. its a slightly different species and I hope it can get along with the other. The first corydoras gotten quite lonely since its partner died.

Speaking of death, I lost 3 prawns due to changing the gravel. They were frighten by the event and refused to eat. Death follow soon after. I do wonder if I had accidentally kill their kids too. At the moment I cant find any. Only time will tell.

Happy song

Been having a blue week with my first week of work. This song is cheering me up.

Hope it makes your day too.

(Mika - Lollipop)

Perpetual motion

To the disbeliever, Physic determine that there could not be a Perpetual motion motor. To simply put it, energy cant be create nor destroy. Thus we could not simply create a neverending source of power to run our generator.

However there are always challengers to this concept. Its interesting to see what they come up with.

new dark gravel

I was contemplating this for a long while. The thing is that I wanted to cover my tank with a nice layer of grass. It would give a nice greenish feel to complete the barrel desert look. The think is that the patch of grass which I bought for $8 had hardly grown nor spread across my tank.

After some researching, I came to realise that this had to do with my gravel. The brownish gravel though gives a good appearance, is large and light. This is good if you have one of those under soil filter system. Cos it allows the dirt and particles to slip between to the bottom.

You might thought that this would have been good for the plants to set their roots. Unfortunately this is not. Plants love security. They need a firm, tight base to allow them to root up properly. Loose gravel would simply be impossible for the to grow and spread.

Thus I bought a bag of dark planting soil. well, its more than dark, its black to be precise.

I decided to leave the original gravel and layer this new set above it. Its a risk I took and it turn out to give a nice arty effect.

On top of it I planted new species of grass. This monster patch is well know to spread well and I could only hope to see my tank cover with them in a couple of months.

As you can see, my cory**** is enjoying the presence of new grass.

At the moment, the water is quite murky with all that movement. Once it settles and after a few more water change, I would post the revamp look.

Oh and we found some new baby prawnies. This is like the 2nd time we found them. I hope they live till adult.

damn downloader virus

For the last few days now I was infected with the damn downloader virus.

It reside somewhere deep in my WinXP and simply refused to leave. I try scanning, try booting to safe mood, try more scanning, try force deleted, try KillBot (highly recommend) and the kitchen sink.

Nothing works. And to top it off, the damn virus is smart enough to close my browser if I intend to find a solution online. It even crash my system a few times and denied Killbot from loading. And to think SARC rated it as very low level risk.

Finally, I decided brute force is necessary. I plug out the damn HDD and connected it to my Hall computer. There I merely deleted the virus (ccc.dll) without any fuss. Then returning the cleaned hdd back to my comp and perform a scan to be sure.

Alas the virus is gone and I could resume Work once more

Prediction for 2008

  1. The property price will dip

  2. With the price still at sky high, potential buyers are holding out. Without a demand, the price would therefore dip to a reasonable level once more. Depending on the outlook of the economy as well, this price might be further impacted. But in general, I would say it would dip a fair bit.

  3. Job Market would still be rosy

  4. With the currently growth and regional stability, my guess is that the job market would still be good for now. Lots of fresh grads would have no problem finding their dream job with plenty of experience ppl switching jobs as well. This musical chairs will probably carry out till the near the end of 08. Though I doubt it would last.

  5. Creative will go bust

  6. Well lets just say Creative is losing market shares and consumer interests. It just would be a matter of time.

  7. Facebook will get boring

  8. Very soon Facebook would become like friendster. An online community which would still be around but you wont be keen to use it as much. On the other hand, an internet based second life might pop up and generate new buzz.

  9. Liverpool will win EPL

  10. Need I say more

Lets see how this turns out. Remind me to check back at year end

Planet Earth

Watching this almost makes you wish you can fly.

happy 2008

How time flies. Another year has pass in a blink of an eye.

Looking back at 07, I came to realise it was an interesting year for me. There are plenty of trials and tribulations that affected me deeply and strangely looking back now, they have no doubt made me stronger. Perhaps all these were set upon by the Big Guy sitting above to prepare me for the journey I would be embarking.

Anyway, after spending many sad NYE and clamped parties in the past, I decided that this year I would stay in. Which would mean I would have to find something to do.

Out came Heavy Arm whom I bought a long time back. I got this with Deathscythe but only managed to fix up DS then. And then the endless procrastination comes in.... You know the rest.

I would say I prefer Heavy arm a whole lot more.
